Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior official commented the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
