Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.
It is his initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after spring of the previous year.
The win also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.
Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
